AMNIÒTIC CONCERTS @ AUDITORI DEL C.A.T.

Next Thursday 17th may, I’ll play in Gracia, my dear neighborhood, in one of my favorite places! We’ll make two Amniòtic Records concerts: Ferran Palau and me. It’s going to be a great night…You can’t miss it!

After two weeks playing outside I'm back home! First I played three concerts in Berlin, all filled with very nice audience. Then I went to Madrid where I played for the first time! I was invited to the program Hoy Empieza Todo in Radio3 for an interview and I played some songs, and I also recorded a concert for TVE (Conciertos de Radio3) with a very nice piano, and finally I played my concert in Fotomatón, which was really full of grateful people!

In may I’ll have many more concerts in Catalonia, I’m very excited about all of them, and on the 31th I'll play in Italy for the first time! Specially I want to announce the concert of the 17th may in Barcelona, in the Auditorium of C.A.T. Not only because I’ll play in my neighborhood (feeling more at home than ever!), also because before me, is going to play Ferran Palau presenting his new album. The tickets are already on sale…It’s going to be a great night!

Yesterday we presented my album “Magnòlia” at the Petit Palau in Barcelona! We spent a wonderful night with a crowded place. I’m very grateful to everybody to fill up the auditorium with so beautiful atmosphere!

For all of you who missed it or for those of you who want to repeat we announce a new concert in Barcelona, for the 17th may, at the C.A.T.'s Auditorium. It’s going to be a double concert night, because before me is going to play Ferran Palau (from Anímic) with his band, presenting his new and beautiful first solo album.

The advanced tickets will be on sale next week. This is going to be also a wonderful night…We hope to see you there!

I RELEASE THE SECOND MUSIC VIDEO FOR MAGNÒLIA!

Here it is. The song is called “Bosc Adormit” (“Sleepy Forest”). The routine looked from the outside, which makes your feel even more lonely, insignificant and dispensable. And the routine looked from the inside, which often disguise these fears.

These are the great musicians who accompany me: Pau Vallvé (drums, keyboard and backing vocals), Nico Roig (guitars, ambient sounds and backing vocals), Jordi Casadesús (double bass, bass and backing vocals) and as always, myself at the piano and voice.

Looking back at this past year I realize all the things I’ve learned and everything that has given me from all the wonderful people around me, friends and family. Looking to 2012 I believe that we’ll already do something to make it a wonderful year too!

After a great Christmas day with the family, which ended up singing together, I could not help remembering this feeling of my song “Dins Magnòlies”, in which a few friends sing in chorus in the living room. That’s why, on this day, the post dedicated to one of the songs of my album is for: Dins Magnòlies [Listen here]

I couldn’t sing this song alone, I didn’t make it for this… on the contrary! I asked a few friends to come and sing with me.

It is a mantra, a phrase that is repeated, sung by many people in the living room. We ended up screaming and singing canon. The quartet, double bass, guitar, piano, friends… we’re all together there. A phrase that reminds us that all those good times we’ve been through, they’re never able to remove, no matter what happens.

Here it is the translation of the short lyric: "Within magnolias we got lost, under a thousand stars we laughed, thanks to all this, no one will ever take from us what we were."

CONCENTRATED TO REHEARSE IN THE MOUNTAINS… AND THE FIRST 20 DATES FOR THE THOUR!

We’ve already published the first 20 dates of the “Magnòlia” tour! You can see it here: MAGNOLIA TOUR.

Last week we went 5 days to La Guàrdia, to rehearse with the band, where we were able to concentrate very well. It was great to spend some days in such good company, between nature, silence, beautiful scenery and why not say, eating as well! But above all, be able to play with them, which is a pleasure.

Now I’m eager to start the concerts and that you can see us live!

TOMORROW WE'LL CLOSE PAU VALLVÉ'S TOUR

Tomorrow is the last concert tour presenting “2010”, Pau Vallvé’s album.

It really has been a great pleasure to be playing with him this past year, accompanying him on the keyboards, percussion and vocals.

Not only because we had great times together and we continued touring (we had already came from the tour with my album "Linoleum"!). Also because he is one of the best musicians I know and for me has been a great learning experience, among other things, to be doing a role, in part, fairly new to me.

At the same time that we’re closing this tour, we’re opening a new one on January. This time it is my tour, where I'll be presenting my new album "Magnolia" in which Pau will be my drummer.

Thank you very much for this last year showing music so beautiful!

In winter I went a few days alone with the recording material to my dad’s village to focus some ideas of "Magnolia." There I wrote this song. The lyric, along with the music came from me almost without thinking, just sitting at the piano.

It was a moment where I was so afraid, I felt alone and I started play to try to calm it all.

Just playing the first line of the song I decided to record it right away. The final part of piano came from me improvising at that time, and so it stayed.

FIRST REHEARSALS WITH THE BAND

We have already started to rehearse with the band... and what a band! Adapting the songs of the album for the concerts, I'm lucky to be accompanied by Pau Vallvé (drums and keyboard), Nico Roig (guitars, pedals and textures), Jordi Casadesús (double bass and electric bass). And myself at the piano and singing. I'm looking forward to start the concerts!!

Ja fa un mes que anem avançant coses del disc: els 4 vídeos de promo que he fet amb diferents fragments de música, el primer vídeoclip que he dirigit en Super8, la portada, la web, 5 cançons que vam estrenar a PlayGround, els crèdits del disc... I per fi, demà dimecres 2 de novembre, el "Magnòlia" surt!

GRÀCIES PEL SEGON CONCERT A BERLÍN!

Aquest estiu em vaig aventurar a anar a Berlín durant 10 dies, només sabia que hi volia anar a tocar, però no hi coneixia res ni pràcticament a ningú i vaig anar fent-hi "couch surfing" (dormint a sofàs de gent). Allà hi havia alguns amics músics i vam acabar organitzant un concert a Exciting Space. Va ser una feinada però finalment vam aconseguir que un pianista em deixés el seu piano, muntar tot el so, assajar…i finalment va acabar sent una nit de tres concerts brutal! Va venir molt públic i tothom ho va passar molt bé. Però quan vaig marxar de Berlín em vaig quedar amb la idea de tornar-hi a tocar, organitzant-ho amb una mica més de temps. I així ho vam fer aquest cap de setmana passat, un concert organitzat pel meu amic Ivo i els de l'espai Fabrik Zirkonia.

Aquesta vegada va ser encara més bonic i va venir molta més gent, estava pleníssim! Vaig tocar amb un piano de paret antic amb un so preciós que van afinar el dia abans (el de la foto), tothom tenia moltes ganes d'escoltar, tots els amics que ho va fer possible s'ho van currar molt perquè tot funcionés bé i gràcies a tot això també vaig estar molt a gust.

Vaig comptar, de nou, amb la meva amiga i grandíssima música María di Pace, perquè m'acompanyés a la guitarra i al charango en algunes cançons, i ella i jo vam acompanyar al nostre amic violinista Ivo Saint, que em va telonjar, tocant en format acústic algunes cançons el seu nou disc, per cert, molt bonic.
...A Berlín, molta gent ja té el "Magnòlia"! Moltíssimes gràcies a tots!

EL PRIMER VÍDEOCLIP DEL "MANGÒLIA"

Durant la gravació del "Magnòlia" em vaig posar a buscar informació sobre Super8, perquè creia que era el que millor m’aniria per aconseguir plasmar el que m'imaginava pels vídeos d'aquest disc.
Mai havia rodat en aquest format i durant 6 mesos m’he estat introduint en el món del Super8, provant coses i coneixent gent que hi està ficada. Amb el que he rodat durant aquest procés d’aprenentatge he anat fent els vídeos de promo i el primer videoclip, que avui estrenem!
Vaig tenir molta sort també, d’haver conegut a l’Albert Alcoz, un cineasta experimental que de seguida que em vaig posar a indagar en aquest món, em va encantar el que fa. Ell ha col·laborat amb el primer videoclip i algunes imatges seves també estan allà.

TORNO A TOCAR A BERLÍN!

Després del concert que vaig fer aquest agost a Berlín i d'estar-hi tant a gust, d'aquí dues setmanes hi torno a tocar, a FABRIK ZIRKONIA, un espai preciós al barri de Neukölln.

LA PORTADA DEL MAGNÒLIA

La portada del meu nou disc, el "Magnòlia" (Amniòtic Records, 2011), és un treball a partir d'una fotografia de Román Yñán i una il·lustració amb anilines de Rafa Castañer.
Ha estat un enorme plaer haver treballat amb el Rafa per acabar d'ajustar el que ha sigut la imatge de la portada definitiva.

Aquestes imatges les vaig rodar a Berlín, quan hi vaig anar a tocar a l'agost. Són els carrers de la ciutat, gairebé tot del barri de Neukölln. El muntatge és directament de càmera i és tot fet foto a foto amb la Super8.

Per a mi, el "Magnòlia" no és només la música, sinó que s'acaba de completar amb tota la part dels vídeos i videoclips que aniré traient al llarg d'aquests mesos i amb tota la part gràfica de dissenys i cartells.
Des de principis d'estiu que he estat preparant la part audiovisual: rodant-ho tot amb Super8, fent els muntatges, les superposicions i acabant de donar forma als vídeos amb l'ajuda de l'Albert Alcoz i el Pau Vallvé.
Ara estem acabant de muntar el primer vídeoclip, que sortirà molt aviat.
De moment aquest és el segon vídeo de promo, i d'aquí pocs dies en penjaré un tercer.

NOU DISC, NOVA WEB

Avui estreno aquesta nova web pel "Magnòlia". En aquesta nova web hi ha moltes més seccions que en l'anterior: "Vídeos" (amb videoclips i vídeos en concert), "Imatges" (amb un recull de creacions plàstiques, fotografies de concerts i altres sessions) i "Magnòlia", dedicada al meu nou disc, secció que anirem actualitzant i acabarà contenint un reproductor de tot el disc, els videoclips, fotografies, notes de premsa, etc.

A la pàgina principal, a més de poder-hi llegir les últimes novetats amb la columna de blog i amb el widget de Twitter, de poder veure els pròxims concerts i de trobar els enllaços a totes les xarxes socials que tinc obertes, hem incorporat la llista de "Mailings Anteriors" on poso els correus que he enviat a la llista de correu.

Una nova web feta per Pau Vallvé per aquest nou disc que surt d'aquí molt pocs dies!
